Make It Monday #157: DYI Cover Plates

48

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and making your own cover plate styles with dies..

When I first watched this MIM, I wasn't sure I was going to participate.
Today, as I was making a few cards, I looked at my Beautiful butterfly dies and thought, Why Not!

I am THRILLED with how it turned out!
I didn't want to stamp my butterflies, I just cut some PTI polka dot paper with each butterfly. I almost always use the Filigree Border Die to cut a contrasting paper to make "wings" for my butterflies. I also use a strip of clear jewels for the 'bodies".

I LOVE the script Thank you from Keep It Simple: Thank You.

This card was actually easy to make once I figured out what I was doing. I will definitely be making more!!!

March 2014 Blog Hop ~ Card 6

March-Blog-Hop-Inspiration
This month we are challenging you to incorporate anything high gloss into a paper crafting project!

I saved my favorite for last. This card is based on the one everyone loved from the release.

Nichole's beauty:

I wanted to have the look of the Watercolor Wonder, but I do not own those stamps. It was easy to achieve the look without them.
Actually, while I had my re-inkers out I made several panels so I can make more of this card.

I LOVE IT!!!
Wet Paint is AWESOME!!!
The BEST font in a long time!

Can you see the clear embossing on the Thanks?
I currently have a Berry Sorbet obsession.
It is such a great color!

I had fun with this challenge! I love embossing I just wish I didn't end up with embossing powder all over my work space :(

March 2014 Blog Hop ~ Card 5

March-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

This month we are challenging you to incorporate anything high gloss into a paper crafting project!

I wasn't going to post this one. It was a "practice card"
But, why not! There is a PTI gift certificate on the line! ;)

The reason I wasn't going to post it was, I didn't get it lined-up perfectly.
Oh well! At least you can see the embossing on my monogram!
Nichole did this on the release and I LOVED it!
It was obviously a challenge to line it up, but I am sure the next one will be better!

March 2014 Blog Hop ~ Card 4

March-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

This month we are challenging you to incorporate anything high gloss into a paper crafting project!

This one uses a left-over from last weeks MIM. I had some of my colored embossing paste left over so I took my Damask stencil and made a little embellishment. I didn't have the bottom edge secure and the paste leaked through. It did not give a crisp image, so I did what all self-respecting card makers do!
I covered it up!!!  The sequins are strategically placed, as well!
I LOVE those shiny, iridescent white ones I got at JoAnn's!

March 2014 Blog Hop ~ Card 3

March-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

This month we are challenging you to incorporate anything high gloss into a paper crafting project!

I am a pretty good card maker, but I am a LOUSY photographer.
There is clear embossing on the flowers and the sentiment on this card! The frame is clear embossed, too!

BUT YOU CANNOT SEE IT!!!
WHY???

Maybe a tiny bit! If you enlarge it.
DRAT! Embossing is a lot of work for it not to show. Well, it does in real life. But, you are not here!

Anyway, I love every element of this card. Don't you love Garden Grace. It is so pretty and so easy to get a big bang for your time.
Dawn's frames are so handy to have (that is what she says ;))

I LOVE shaker cards!
I just do not love how much time it takes to make them.

Lizzie's Text Block Birthday was meant for a shaker card.
SO CUTE!!!
Mine is filled with shiny crushed glass glitter, some sequins, and a silver charm!

A shiny, glittery rectangle of FUN!!!

This card is High Gloss! The gold paper, from my stash is VERY shiny. The PTI Cream Shimmer paper is, well, shimmery!

I LOVE this card. I must confess tho, it is a layout I do frequently, because I happen to like it!!!

Make It Monday #156: 3D Stamp Paint Techniques ~ Card 2

19

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and any 3D paint technique

Still in a CRANKY mood :(

This on turned out much better. I BRAVELY used my Polka Dot impression plate with Melissa's technique. Be warned: you will have to clean up...
I again colored my embossing paste with a re-inker, Berry Sorbet.
I also made a bottle of mist with Berry Sorbet and sprayed the card front with it. and a circle stencil.
I actually LOVE how the paste stayed in the out-side rim of the circles and gave it a darker edge.
But... it was messy!

Make It Monday #156: 3D Stamp Paint Techniques

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and any 3D paint technique.

FRUSTRATION is running rampant at my house!  March Madness! That is ALL I am going to say!!!

I do not have the paint Melissa used so I made my own,. I used embossing paste and a re-inker.

I cut a stencil with  Cover Plate: Twist Die. I swiped it over the stencil onto Tag Sale #10.
I cut the frame with Aqua Mist  and a button stack.

I covered up to much of the paste with the frame. So I made another attempt on the first post!
Remember, a FRUSTRATING DAY!

Some more Pretty Paper cards

I have some more cards I have been making:

I have used the Friends die a LOT lately. But I have been cutting the s off and making it Friend.
I feel like on a card like this I like the singular better than the plural?

This next one had some odd writing on the oval, so I covered it up!

This one uses and embellishment I made with Leave it Be.
I also used 2 cuts with an Edger die to extend a 6x6 piece for a 5x7 Greeting Card

Same for this one. I am totally in love with Leave it Be!!!

Pretty Paper Cards

I just wanted to post a couple of cards I made with the Teresa Collins paper pack I got from All Scrapbook Steals.
I LOVE her paper. Not as much as I LOVE Papertrey Ink, but...

I have told you before, I still make greeting card, sized cards. My customer are a bit older and that is what they are used to. I still like them for birthday cards, too!

This little collection had some journaling cards, so I used them!

The card on the next one had a obviously journal wording so I covered it up with a small sentiment frame.
The Beautiful Butterfly matched the one on the card, too! ;)

This one uses the heart border to stretch a piece of paper a wee short. That is one of my favorite tricks!

I have made DOZENS more. I won't photograph them all, but I will share some more.

Make It Monday #155: Create Your Own Confetti with Papertrey Ink Dies

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and confetti made from PTI dies included on your project.

OK, I LOVED this idea. I thought Danielle's card and packaging was ADORABLE!!!
But, I had this sinking feeling this was not going to work out well for me!
True confession time. I used Autumn Rose, Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon, and Winter Wisteria.
Of those 4 colors I really only LOVE Winter Wisteria.
SO, I thought if I was wasting my precious PTI card stock for a flopped effort, I didn't want it to be my favorite colors...

I will say it was not a flop,  but I was not totally thrilled.

I started out using a clear card box like Danielle did. I needed a LOT more confetti...
So I used a clear card envelope. I needed much less filling.

I also used the Tiny Envelope die to make my envelope. I too cut a small card to fit inside.
I have not bought the Luxe kit, just not my style but I sure do hope they decide to stock the gold foil tape.
Anyway, I just used a few pieces of confetti to decorate mine.
I used the Hexagon Cover Plate and the tiny squares were from the Berry Basket die.

My biggest issue was the little "linty" pieces that were left from cutting. Tiny shards of paper.. I tried to sift them out, I nearly rubbed each piece to get rid of it but there is still some sticking to the inside of the clear envelope.
I DO NOT LIKE THAT!
You really cannot see it in the pictures but you can in real life...

Anyway, I think it is a CLEVER idea. I might try another card this week.

My First attempt at Embossing Paste

I have been wanting to try Embossing Paste for a while. I went to Michael's, unsure of what to buy. They do not have any paper craft brands, specifically. I looked at the products in the art department and walked away. I had no idea what was the best choice!

Last week All Scrapbook Steals had a super sale on a Teresa Collins, my second favorite paper company behind PTI.  Here is their site  http://www.allscrapbooksteals.com/

I ordered the paper and since I was paying shipping, I added this embossing paste:

And this stencil:

I made this card:

I am pretty happy with it. I put a small amount of the paste with the stencil onto some white paper before I went to get my husband at the airport yesterday. This afternoon after a DREADFUL basketball game, I worked with it. I just used my inking tool and lightly inked it to help the pattern show.
Not bad for a first effort...
Next I want to try it on colored card stock.

PS
I got these, too! They were $3

Some of the cards I made in Charlotte ~ Last post

The last of these cards. I have been frantically making Bunny Bags. I have sold everyone I have made and I cannot get ahead! GREAT problem to have, right? More $$ for my mission fund!
I have made a few cards. I reward myself with card making when I am in production mode. I need to have that creativity that is not fulfilled with scoring and gluing! But I haven't had to to photograph those...

Webster's Pages paper, so pretty

I bought more of the Teresa Collins Notations paper. It was a HUGE seller for me last fall. I hope I didn't go overboard bringing it back!

Don't you just LOVE the Limitless Layers Heart dies? They work so well for non-Valentines cards. A good heart is always welcome.

(Did I cut that music paper up-side down...)

This last one is one of  my favorites. I am not sure about the paper. I am pretty sure it in from the huge stash given to me. I LOVE how the Butterflies on the blue paper looks like the sky (to me anyway!)
I think it is a comforting, soothing sympathy card. I wish I have more of that paper...

OK! That is it!
