Make It Monday #64: Using Color Inspiration

I LOVE this challenge.  I LOVE the colors.  But, boy.... it was a LOT harder than I thought it would be! First of all I have all of the colors in card stock but I don't have Canyon Clay ink! I need to order that! Second it was a LOT of color to work with when you are trying to follow Nichole's "rule of three". WAAAAAY harder than I thought it would be. 5 colors, so you need at LEAST 15 color elements! I COMPLETELY ripped off Nichole's card, totally! I had a crazy day, and I want to do a card every day this week and keep up with the color challenges, so I CHEATED! BTW, I got the proofs of Colin's Senior Pictures! Can I tell you he is the cutest 2012 Senior, maybe the cutest senior, ever (don't tell Josh or Brandon!) Anyway, my time was off, so..... I copied Nichole's card.  I used Rosie Posie background on the mat and mat Stack 5, the Sunflower mini set & dies, Turning a New Leaf die, oval Limitless Layers, and Dawns Signature Greetings.
My intention is to be back tomorrow with a new color challenge! Fingers crossed!

Movers and Shakers part 2

Before the Blog Hop I had posted a card with hints on Movers and Shakers dies. This is the Spiral Poppers die. Nichole Heady has a video HERE that shows you how to use it. I still struggled a bit with perfect placement of the cut on this card, like I did the first time. I think the key is where you put the embellishments, so that where you place the popper spiral will allow the embellishments to remain in the card when it is folded. The largest butterfly sneaks out the bottom of the card. You can push that edge back in, but I think if I would put the larger elements toward the fold rather than the front edge, it would solve the problem. I hope that makes sense!
The paper is one I LOVE. It is from an old DVWV stack. I have one more sheet I am hoarding! I love stretching pattern paper in the way I did here. It is interesting and saves that favored paper. You can see I used Mat Stack 1 & Layerz, Eyelet Lace Border die, and 2 butterfly dies.
So pretty with pretty paper!

April Blog Hop

Yikes I had a rough time with my posts today. Scroll on down and you will see why!

April Blog Hop

There is going to be a series of post's followed by a longer one with the same cards. I am sorry about that. I was trying to put all of the cards I made for the blog hop on one entry but it will not let me link them that way, so I had to post them individually. Sorry you have to look at them twice, but be sure and scroll all the way to the first post and see what I wrote and where it shows what the challenge was.

                                     The-Challenge

Blog hop inspiration
We are excited to get back to our inspiration challenges for the blog hop each month.  For the month of April we wanted to focus on fun florals, damasks & polka dots.  Throw in the fun color scheme, and you have a recipe for the perfect project.  Use the inspiration piece as a jumping point for your color scheme, pattern combinations, overall design or whatever else inspires your creativity

Here are my cards for the April Blog Hop. I LOVE this challenge! I love the colors, the patterns and my new PTI supplies! They are all 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock, top fold cards ( the 3rd card is side fold). The paper is all PTI Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Damask Design, Raspberry Fizz paper pack, Beautiful Blooms. the dies are mostly new. Notched Flowers, Limitless Layers Oval 3 1/2". I also used Limitless Layers 1 3/4 circle, Tag Sale #5, Quatrefoil Die, and 2 butterfly dies. The last card really wasn't in the color scheme but I found the paper while I was sorting so I used it anyway.
I had fun making these cards. I have been busy scrapbooking  for Colin's graduation :( I am making a book for his best friend Kyle, too!

Papertrey Ink Movers and Shakers Die Cards

Remember back in February when I posted cards for the February Blog Hop? I said I would give my tips on using the Movers & Shakers die that I bought. The card above uses Movers & Shakers Popper Die. I had said I would do some things differently. The main change is the weight of the paper. I had used Papertrey Ink cardstock and paper. IT IS TOO HEAVY! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE their paper. It is THE best. But... on this card and the other Movers & Shakers where you end up with multiple layers, it made the card VERY thick and VERY heavy! So, I used paper, not cardstock. I was going through my paper stash, looking for solid paper and found this sheet. I have no idea where it came from, most likely a DCWV but I don't know. I LOVE the pattern part and it had a large section of solid as well. If you buy any of these dies I strongly encourage you to watch Nichole Heady's video HERE to learn how to use the dies. She has several tips you won't want to miss. But my experience tells me paper works better and will save the sender $$ if you use paper. I used a 4 1/4x5 1/2 piece of paper to cut that popper, I like the way it looks. I also used Mat Stack 1 & the Layerz size. The butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch. they are a great accent to all of my PTI Butterfly dies (I have them all!).
LOVE the card, especially made with paper!

Bon Voyage Spring Break Card

I wanted to share the card I sent to my husband Al, my son Colin and his 3 friends that went on the Cruise with us for Spring Break.  Keep in mined this card was for male people, so making it "pretty" was not an option.  I bought the Tim Holtz Artful Voyage Stamp set HERE .  I use the Baggage tag stamp and stamped it on a grayish cardstock.  I filled out the Cruise Ship info on the lines provided.  I stamped  Bon Voyage on blue cardstock in black ink and heat embossed it and then rounded the corners. It was adhered with pop dots. I had a few ships wheel & life preservers from an OLD Jolee's cruise sticker set. Again, my purpose was to let them know we were excited about the trip and as a scrapbook memento.  I had to keep it simple!
They all enjoyed getting the card!

Make It Monday ~ Card 1

Make It Monday #61: Creating Flowers With Leaf Dies

--Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and must include a die-cut flower made with a non-flower die.

I am back!  I hope I will not have any more lengthy breaks.  Well, maybe around graduation the 3rd week of May.  After dealing with the virus and then the program to upload my pictures, I had the Google Chrome issue with Blogger ~ Geesh, don't they know I like my computer the way it was yesterday, today and, I want it that way tomorrow, too!!!!!  So, I had to convert to Google Chrome and navigate the new Cannon program!  I THINK I have it all under control ;)
This card is for the Make It Monday for PTI.
The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock and is top fold.  The front panel is a piece of American Crafts paper.  When I do a Challenge or MACM, I like to use all PTI, but I didn't have time to dye felt and my red felt was too dark red to match Pure Poppy.  I used both Mat Stack 3 and the Layerz size.  The felt flowers are cut with the Movers and Shakers circle Pop-up die. It is rolled back on itself for the large one and the 2 smaller ones are one die cut in 2 pieces. I sewed 3 small pearls in the center. the sentiment is stamped on the smaller Double Ended Banner die. The sentiment is from Happy Day stamp set.

Make It Monday #2

Here is a second card made with a die-cut flower made with a non-flower die.  I used the die from Limitless Layers 2 1/2" Circle Die.  I cut it into a spiral and re-rolled it on top of itself, just like the felt flower.  I also used the same die from 1 3/4". I used paper from Holiday Cheer and Scarlet Jewel PTI.  PTI Bottle Tag was used for the mat.  I just cut the top off,  Dawn McVey's Signature Greeting stamp was inked in Vintage Cream ink.
