Polaroid 2-Step Masking technique card

This week I have participated in 2 challenges.  This 2nd one is at Nicole Heady's, Papertrey Ink, blog.  She has a video HERE with directions to make this card.  I followed it pretty closely.  I don't have the stamps she used, so I had to use what I have.  My background is paper, not stamped like hers.  I used the green paper from Holiday Cheer, PTI.  It is not very Christmas'ey so it worked well.  My stamps are Beautiful Blooms II and Blooming Button Bits.  I used Spring Moss and Berry Sorbet ink.  Instead of ribbon I used the Double Ended Banner with Berry Sorbet paper.
This was my first attempt at this technique, just like the window card.  Again, a little practice wouldn't hurt but it still a nice card.

Summer Card Camp 2011

This card is for the Card Camp Color Challenge and is one I made from Jennifer McGuire's tutorial.  You can see the colors we were to use from the 5 dots on the logo above.  My card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  I stamped the card front with Hero Arts Life of the Party Dots background stamp.  I used PTI Spring Rain ink.  I took PTI Mat Stack 1 die and cut a window in the front of the card.  A piece of re-cycled acetate from packaging was stamped with StazOn black ink.  The sentiment is a Stampendous cling rubber stamp.  That was adhered to the back of the front.  A piece of white cardstock, slightly smaller than the front was also cut with Mat Stack 1 and adhered to the back of the front to cover the edges of the acetate.  A frame was made with the orange cardstock.  I took Mat Stack 5 cut the paper, taped Mat Stack 1 to the center and ran that through my Vagabond.  I glued it to the edge of the window.  2 flowers were cut with Beautiful Blooms II #3 and white cardstock.  They were stamped with the coordinating stamps using Sweet Blush & Plum Pudding ink.  These flowers were adhered with pop dots at the corner of the window.
This was my first attempt at making a window card.  It turned out OK, a little practice wouldn't hurt!

Raspberry Fizz Card

This 5x7 white cardstock base card uses a strip of PTI Raspberry Fizz paper.  It is the prettiest, bright and cheery paper I have.  I LOVE it.  I took a Bazzil solid cardstock that matches it perfectly to cut the solid components of the card.  I used PTI Eyelet Lace Border and Medium Scallop Border dies.  The flower is from Cricut Cake Basics.  It is cut at 3".  A pink Rhinestone is set in the center and it is adhered to the card with pop dots.  At the bottom of the card I used PTI Fillable Frames #8 die & stamp.  Raspberry Fizz ink was used to stamp the frame & sentiment.  That piece was adhered with pop dots, too.
Simple but pretty with the awesome PTI border dies and BEAUTIFUL paper.

Hero Arts Large Flower Card

This card is made with Hero Arts Large Flower Stamp.  It is an older stamp but I still really like it and you can get it Here .  I have a lot of supplies from years of stamping, card making and scrapbooking.  I really do try and occasionally get out some of my things that I really loved when I bought them and put them to use!  This stamp is one of them.  The card base for both cards is 5x7 white cardstock.  The front panels are 4 3/4x5 & 4 3/4x2 1/4.  The pink card is made with American Crafts paper & the green one is Stampin Up Rockabilly.  That too is an old paper but I still like it.  The 2 panels were adhered together and ribbon was tied in a knot at the seam.  The pink ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, the black from Michael's.  The panels were adhered to the card front.   The flower stamp was used on white cardstock in coordinating colored ink.  I used my Dove blender pen to color between some of the lines.  A button with a pink rhinestone was adhered to the center of the pink card.  A sentiment box was made for the pink card but left blank so it can be used as needed.  The green one was stamped with a sentiment is black ink.
Very simple cards.

Birthday Card

This is a simple little Birthday card.  I used a piece of my favorite paper from Me and My Big Ideas ~ 12x12 Journey pack.  It is the same paper pack I have used in the travel themed cards from past posts.  I used a scrap.  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  A piece of 4x5 1/4 white cardstock was embossed with Tim Holtz Gridlock Texture Fades embossing folder.  Button twine was wrapped around the top of the card and the panel was adhered to the embossed piece after it was adhered to the card front.  A doily was cut with white cardstock and PTI Doily Details die.  A piece of the panel paper was cut with 1 3/4 circle punch.  It was stamped with Fresh Snow ink with PTI 2011 Birthday Tags and was placed in the center of the doily and adhered with pop dots to the card front.
Clean and Simple!

Butterfly card

This card is one I copied from Dawn McVey.  It was on the front cover of July Stamping Magazine, here .  I thought is was a BEAUTIFUL card!  But, as you probably know, I think all of Dawn's cards are beautiful!  It is also a simple card.  The card is 4 1/4x5 1/2.  I used some old white cardstock I had that has colored sprinkles all over it.  I cannot remember what is is called or if they still make it.  It has a 4" white doily adhered to the front.  The doilies are easily found at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.  The top one more mimics Dawn's.  I took PTI Happy Spots paper in 5 colors and used PTI Love Lives Here butterfly die to cut it.  They were all mounted on pop dots and staggered up the left side of the card.  PTI Double Ended Banner was used to cut white cardstock.  It was stamped with a sentiment and adhered with pop dots to the bottom right side of the card.  That is it!  Easy peasy!  The 2 bottom cards were for my Cricut/card class, so I used the Cricut to cut the paper. This paper is also some I have had in my stash for a long time.  I happened to have 5 colors of the same style.  I used Cricket cartridge ~ Paisley ~ Umbrella page 48, Button key ~ cut at 1”.  I used Ranger Liquid Pearls, White Opal, to form 3 pearls down the center of the butterfly.  Otherwise the steps are the same.  Dawn used the coordinating stamp for the die from Love Lives Here.  That is the main difference, besides the fact she is AWESOME and gets published most every month!
It is a super simple, but very pretty card!

Hero Arts Antique Writing Card

Here are 2 versions of a card made with the BEAUTIFUL Hero Arts Antique Writing stamp.  This card is based on a card posted by Debbie Olson a Papertrey Ink designer.  She is amazing and I fell in love with this card.  It is a greeting card size 5x7 white cardstock.  The stamp is 4.5" x 5.5", so I cut my cream cardstock the same size.  It is stamped in Dark Chocolate ink.  The edges are distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser.  That piece was mounted on Dark chocolate cardstock just slightly larger than the cream piece.  A second piece of cream cardstock was stamped from the area of the large butterfly.  I colored the butterfly with colored pencils, swiped it with a VersaMark pen and rubbed Pearl Ex ( this is an older version of Perfect Pearls) on the butterfly.  I cut out the butterfly and applied some brown jewels to the spots and body and to the smaller butterflies on the panel.  I also took my finger and touched some of the gold Pearl Ex on those butterflies. I wrapped a plum colored ribbon length ways around the panel.  The card front was stamped with PTI Fancy Flourishes in Tim Holtz Antique linen ink.  The panel was adhered to the card front and the butterfly was mounted on pop dots.  PTI Double Ended Banner was used to cut white cardstock and a sentiment was stamped in Dark Chocolate ink.
This is a really pretty, classic card.  The stamp is just GORGEOUS!

American Crafts Rose Ribbon

Remember the Mothers Day cards with the pretty pink rose ribbon.  Well, here is another version of the ribbon.  I took white American Crafts Rose Ribbon and lightly misted it with Glimmer Mist.  I was looking to make it barely creamy.  It took the dye really well and is so pretty!  The card is 5x7 white cardstock.
The 2 papers are cut at 4 3/4x4 1/4 & 4 3/4x 2 1/4.  A creamy vellum was used to cut 2 PTI Signature butterflies and 1 Love Lives Here butterfly.  I took PTI Delightful Dahlia stamp & stamped the butterflies with Vintage Cream ink.  To me, it resembles feathers.  The butterflies were stacked and adhered together.  A strip of Michael's Recollections rhinestones was adhered to the center. The papers were adhered to the card front and the dyed ribbon was placed on the seam.  The butterfly was added with pop dots just above the ribbon.  The second one is the same size & paper cuts.  I had a roll of creamy organza ribbon I got at Target in the Christmas area on clearance for 90% off.  I just wrapped it around the panel before I adhered it to the card, and tied it in a bow.  I thought it might be too wide but it works perfectly.  A similar butterfly stack was added with pop dots.  A Hero Arts Happy Birthday was stamped in Vintage Cream ink.  They have totally different looks but they are both soft and feminine.

Shadow Box Cards

This is a fun card to make.  It looks complicated but it is not.  You need 2 pieces of cardstock, not paper, cut 5 1/2x4 1/4.  I used solid, colored cardstock for the front and white cardstock for the back.  The top orange on was my first attempt.  It is plain, just to try out dimensions.  Both pieces need to be scored at 1/2 & 1' on the short length.  I used my 3" circle punch to cut the hole in the center and as far as it would reach on the colored piece.  I would try some of Papertrey Ink dies or Spellbinder dies would work great too.  On the yellow one I used a piece of patterned paper 3 1/2x4 1/4 centered between the score lines.  I layered PTI Mat Stack 1 under the hole on the front.  A stamped and heat embossed sentiment was placed so it clearly showed.  I used several Petaloo Flora Doodles to embellish the front and back side of the cards.  The red one is a Christmas card and was a little more involved.  On the white back piece I stamped PTI Background Basics in Pure Poppy ink.  I made a tag from a white shipping tag.  It was covered in red & white strip paper,  A ticket from PTI Just the Ticket was cut with white cardstock & stamped in Pure Poppy ink.  I did use an oval Spellbinder die on it.  The Poinsettias are also Petaloo.  Red dyed seam binding is added to the tag and 2 rhinestone stars were also placed on the tag.  The front of the red piece was stamped with PTI Fancy Flourishes in Fresh Snow ink.
The edges of  both pieces are glued between the outside edge and the 1/2 score.  Then you sort of bow it in and it will make the shadow box.  You can easily flatten it to have it fit in an A2 envelope.
These cards are really cute and not at all hard to make when you understand the directions.

Border edged cards

This is a really large card post!  My sister Pat * Hi Pat!* asked me to post these cards.  I made them a while back, before we got our Canon Rebel camera so the pictures are not so good.  But, you can get the idea of the cards.  They are all 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base.  After the cardstock is folded in half I trim 1 1/4 inch of of the top right side.  This allows me to add the border.  Most of the cards use the scallop border from the Cricket Solutions cartridge, Easter.  I cut the borders at 5 1/2.  The left side is adhered to the back side of the front of the card.  All of the cards have 2 mats that are 3 3/4 square and adhered together.  Most of them have had the solid cardstock embossed with Spots and Dots Cuttlebug folder.  Some of them have ribbon adhered at the seam and some have the Rickrack border on the Easter cartridge placed there as well.  A 1 1/2x5 1/4" strip of coordinating cardstock or paper was adhered to the right edge of the back of the card, so when the card is shut the paper shows through the border.  3 of the cards have a shabby flower on them.  3 sizes of a flower from Cricut George & Basic Shapes were cut from 3 colors of cardstock.  The flowers were sprayed with Gold Glimmer Mist, scrunched up, dried and adhered in the center with jeweled brads.  The blue cards with the bird were cut with Stamping solutions cartridge.  The card with the red flower border also used a cut from Stamping solutions cartridge.  The second to last card has a flower made with the Hero Arts large flower stamp.  The last card has an egg that was cut with the Cricut Easter solutions cartridge.
There are a lot of cards and a lot of information here.  Ask if you have any questions

One LAST Rolled Roses card ~ for the time being ;)

OK, can you tolerate one last Rolled Roses card?  I hope so because this one was too pretty not to share.  It is kind of a strange size card.  I was trying to make a top fold greeting card, 5x7.  Not so easy to do!  I took a piece of white 12x12 scrapbook cardstock and cut it 5x12, so folded it is 5x6.  PTI Edger 3 was used to cut the bottom of the card, Smokey Shadow cardstock and a piece of purply-gray dotted cardstock from my scraps.  Those pieces were 4 3/4x3'ish.  Cream felt was used to cut the Rolled Roses ( look in my last post for info).  Creamy pearls were sewn into the centers. The pearlized green cardstock I used in the last post was also used with Turning a New Leaf die.  The leaves were mounted on pop dots, the flowers on glue dots.  Black satin ribbon, Michaels, was tied in a knot at the top of the card.  A Hero Arts sentiment was stamped in Smokey Shadow ink.
I will try and make something this weekend that does not have a Rolled Rose on it!

Another Rolled Roses card!!!

This Rolled Roses card is made with the same die here and here, I have used several times.  This time I made the roses with a Hot Pink felt that was embossed, so the roses have a little more texture.  I got that felt at Hobby Lobby.  The roses have a pink pearlized straight pin that was trimmed off and secured with Glossy Accents. The pretty rose paper came from Archivers and is the same paper I used on one of the American Crafts rose ribbon cards.  Bazzil Hot Pink cardstck is the solid mat.  This card is 5x7 white cardstock.  Hot pink ribbon from Michael's is tied in a knot at the seam.  The roses are mounted on glue dots on a Hot Pink Mat Stack 5 by PTI.  The stick pin is one I made with a corsage pin & beads secured by Glosssy Accents.  The cute little tag is PTI Jar Label used to cut white cardstock, stamped & a hole was punched with a tiny punch.  It is tied on the ribbon knot with hot pink floss.
It is a VERY Bright card!

Another Rolled Roses card

I Just LOVE these Rolled Roses. (Check past posts for the name of the die)  I know I have said that before, but.... This time I used some red felt and red pearlized straight pins.  The flowers come out so pretty!  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2, top fold.  The card and all of the layers are run through my Vagabond with PTI Edger 3.  The patterned paper is American Crafts Celebration.  The leaves are PTI Turning a New Leaf die.  The paper is from my scraps and has a pearlized finish.  I am not sure what it is.  The card is finished with a narrow green ribbon, Michael's, tied in a bow.  I put a small glue dot under the knot of the bow on all of my cards to help keep the bow from un-tying and shifting.

Mat Stack 1 Cards ~ 3 colors

Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 1 is one of my favorite PTI dies.  That is saying a lot! I have only bought 2 or 3 dies that I haven't loved and used, a lot.  I LOVE my PTI dies.  But, Mat Stack 1 is really a special die.  It has a classic shape that to me, lends an air to a card.  Elegant but not in the least, fussy!  These 3 cards have the exact layout.  4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base.  4x 2 3/4" pieces of solid and patterned paper.  A coordinating ribbon is adhered at the seam.  Mat Stack 1 die was used to cut the solid cardstock.  A 2 3/4" white oval was cut on my Expression with George & Basic Shapes.  I use those ovals a lot on my Mat Stacks and Fillable Fames so I cut them in bulk.  I do an auto-fill and cut a full page in both white and cream.  I usually cut a few in 2" as well.  The oval is stamped in coordinating ink with Dawn McVey's Signature Greetings.  Beautiful Booms II #3 was used to cut cream felt.  Coordinating seed beads were sewn into the stack of three flowers.  The Mat Stack was mounted on pop dots and the flower was adhered to the mat with a glue dot.
Clean and Simple!

Top fold horizontal card

This card is a top fold but cut in the traditional way a note card is cut.  It is 4 1/4x5 1/2 note card, but rotated so the fold is at the top.  I used PTI Edger #3 and cut the card base, the red cardstock and the American Crafts Celebration paper.  The same red cardstock was used with PTI Fillable Frames #10.  A 2 3/4 white oval was cut with George & Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge.  It was stamped with a Hero Arts sentiment in Pure Poppy ink.  The red cardstock was cut with PTI Butterfly die & Signature Series Butterfly die, they were glued together in the center.  PTI Delightful Dahlias stamp was used on the butterflies to simulate feathers.  A strip of rhinestone's from Michael's Recollection brand was placed in the center of the 2 butterflies.  All of the elements were mounted on pop dots.  A length of red bakers twine was tied in a bow at the top of the card.
Something a little different.

Companion card

This card is a companion to the last card I posted.  It is also top fold 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  The same Pink Paislee patterned paper is this time used with PTI Edger 1, along with the card base.  Turquoise cardstock is edged and is the bottom mat.  PTI Doily Details die was used to cut the same solid paper.  PTI Beautiful Blooms II #3 cut cream felt in all 3 sizes.  The flowers were stacked and sewn together with a creamy glass pearl, Wal Mart.  The flower and doily were mounted on pop dots.  Turquoise satin ribbon, Michael's, was tied in a knot at the top of the card.
I haven't put a sentiment on it, yet.  It can be used for lots of occasions!
So, which Edger do you like better?  #1 or #3?  I LOVE #3 but I #1 was my first love,so I am picking it ~ just saying!

Rolled Rose Card

I really like this card!  it's OK to like your own work, right?  I like it so much because I LOVE these flowers and I LOVE the new PTI edger #3.  The flowers are made with My Favorite Things LARGE & MINI ROLLED ROSES Die-Namics.  I love them.  I cut these out of a sagey green felt.  The center is a pearlized  straight pin that I pushed through the rose after securing it with glue, and then trimmed off the end with my snips.  the paper is a piece of Pink Paislee that was run through PTI edger #3 die along with the top fold white cardstock base, 4 1/4x5 1/2.  PTI Mat Stack 5 was used to cut turquoise cardstock.  PTI Turning a New Leaf dies were used to cut a sagey green cardstock.  Turquoise satin ribbon was tied in a knot at the top of the card.
Pretty, huh?

Fathers Day Cards

I was on a mission to make Fathers Day cards.  I had seen a card on a blog that gave me an inspiration so I tried to make it ~ Susan style!  Well, it bombed!  It was just ~ blah.
So.... I tried, again.  This is what I came up with.  I liked it but my husband said "men don't play Bingo!"  I am not sure that is true but.... He said they play Poker.  I had an idea.....
I knew I had a deck of mini playing cards.  I found them and most of them were missing.  I took the cute little Bingo card and replaced it with the King of Hearts ~ appropriate for Fathers Day, huh?  So, this is what I did:
The card base is 5x7 white cardstock.  I took my PTI Chevron Stripes background stamp and with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink made my own front panel.  I wanted it to be faint and uneven.  Tim Holtz Paper Stash—Kraft Resist, paper was cut into a 4x6" piece.   That was adhered directly onto the card front.  PTI Spiral Notebook Page die was used to cut cream cardstock.  PTI It's Official  Order Ticket stamp was used with the Antique linen ink on the page piece.  A Happy Fathers Day stamp that I think came from the dollar bin at Michael's, was stamped with Dark Chocolate ink.  The ruler is also a stamp from the It's Official set.  I stamped it on Kraft cardstock in Dark Chocolate ink.  I have an OLD Fiskars wood grain embossing plate, I mean old!  It is falling apart.  PTI has one so when mine gives up, I will replace it.  I embossed the ruler to give it cool texture.  I made the stamp with Postmarks PTI stamps.  All of the elements are mounted on pop dots.  The mini playing card was tucked behind the ruler.  The bingo card is the same, I just used the bingo card stamp from It's Official and stamped Dark Chocolate ink on cork paper.
So, which one do you like?  I love the one with the King of Hearts but there is only one of those in a deck.  The Ace of Spades would be cute, too!  I still like the Bingo Card!

Izze card

Do you drink Izze?  My kids do, I don't.  It's good but I don't drink sugary drinks, I'd rather eat a piece of chocolate!  But... the cap on the glass bottles is cute & it screws off, so....  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  A piece of that Me and My Big Ideas ~ 12x12 Journey pack, it is the same paper pack I used in cards before, is the front panel.  It was pieced with scraps and a cut from PTI XL Rickrack Border die.  Red bakers twine was wrapped around the panel before it was adhered to the card.  A manila shipping tag was covered with a piece of the paper, a snip of the rickrack and a little stamped ad from Tim Holtz Curiosities stamp, a button and the Izze cap.  Cute, huh?  I think so.  I nab the caps from my boys which isn't hard, they don't throw much away!  Anyway, it is a "green" card, recycled!  (If you know me, that is really funny because I do believe in recycling but I am NOT GREEN!)  And.... I like it because I LOVE the paper.  Just something a little different.

Either or card!

I think this card can be used as a masculine card or for a female.  That is why I said either or!  The 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base has a printed paper front panel.  The paper is from a stack I got on clearance, the front page was missing, so I don't know what brand it is.  It is 4x5 1/4.  I took cream cardstock and used the PTI Spiral Notebook page die to cut the page.  PTI Library Card stamp was inked in Dark Chocolate ink.  A scrunched flower made with 5 PTI Beautiful Blooms II #2 or a 1 1/2" scallop circle punch.  They are glued in the center, with a WalMart glass pearl adhered, and all scrunched around.  A Hero Arts Sentiment is inked in Dark Chocolate.  Button twine is tied around the page, a button is adhered to the bottom.  The whole thing is mounted on pop dots.

Thank You card

This is kind of a collage-y card.  The 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base has a 4x 5 1/4 cream cardstock panel that was embossed with Tim Holtz collage Texture Fades.  PTI Spiral Notebook Page die was used to cut a piece of old ledger paper.  It was stamped  with a Hero Arts Thank you stamp in Dark Chocolate ink.  Dark Chocolate cardstock was cut with PTI Fillable Frames #4 die and tucked behind the ledger cut.  Beautiful Blooms II #3 Die was used to cut cream felt, vintage sheet music and a piece of the ledger paper.  They were attached with a silver brad.  Brown felt was cut with Loves Lives Here butterfly die.  A button was sewn into the center.  A vintage stamp from my mother was adhered in the top left corner.  The panel was adhered to the card front with pop dots.
