4 cards from 1 12x12 Paper/ Blog Break

The top 2 cards look like they are the same but they are not. I used 1 sheet of 12x12 Melissa Frances Bianca paper that I got at my local scrapbook store. It was in the clearance area ~ LOVE that. The top 2 cards are 5x7 greeting card size. I used Half & Half and the large oval Limitless Layers. I cannot find the name of the birthday sentiment. I will try and tell you later. A stacked butterfly and some pearls finish it off. The other 2 are 4 1/4x5 1/2 note cards. The top one uses the Heart Border die. I turned it up-side down for the bottom to make it a scallop like Dawn has shown. I used the large circle Limitless Layers scallop, Doily Details and Half & Half and 2 butterflies, the small one is a Martha Stewart punch. The 2nd one uses the same elements as the top ones. These 2 use black rhinestones.
Colin and I are going to Charlotte to spend a week with Al on Monday. When we get back it will be a flurry getting ready to send him off to KU :(  I am going to MISS him! So, no posts for at least a week!

July 2012 Blog Hop

This month's inspiration is all about pairing up beautiful summer colors as this wonderful season begins to come to a close.  Put together some citrusy hues along with some pretty floral images to create the perfect project that embodies everything summer.  We look forward to seeing your creations

OK, this is not my best work. I had a vision and it didn't quite come out the way I saw it in my head. I had a crazy busy day and did not get a chance to have a do-over, so this is it! I used Harvest Gold card stock that I ran through a Damask Impression plate. Berry Sorbet CS was cut with the "pointy" Half & half. I stamped 3 of the small Pretty Peonies flowers with Berry Sorbet and Melon Berry ink. I trimmed the leaves off two of the flowers and stacked them around each other. I stamped 1 set of the "outline" leaves, and trimmed them up, too. They were all adhered on the rectangle frame stamped in Summer Sunrise. I stamped the sentiment on Smokey Shadow. I think that is what I am disappointed with. I think it needs to be on a Double Ended Banner ~ or something... I tied Berry Sorbet twill tape in a knot. I added a Berry Sorbet Tiny Tag with a resin flower, to balance the bottom.

Dawn-5

My version of Dawns First Aid card. I LOVE this card! can you guess why? Yes, Rosie Posie, and.... Dawn made it! I used a piece of My Minds Eye Lost and Found, die cut the frame with Mat Stack 5 and layered Rosie Posie stamped in qua Mist and Ocean Tides. The leaves are  Simply Chartreuse. The sentiment is from Dawns Tagged Sentiments. The flourish is from Mat Stack 2 Collection!

Pretty, huh?

Stamp-a-faire Homemade Embellishments

Your challenge is to create some custom embellishments using inspiration from one of the tutorials above.  Then create a project using them.  You can choose to re-create an exact project from one of the team members or design something of your very own.

A card inspired by Melissa Phillips. Felt bows. There is a HUGE inside joke in our family about me hoarding PTI felt. MY youngest does an ADORABLE imitation of me caressing the felt then rolling it back up, putting it in its little zip-lock bag and putting it back in the drawer! FUN-NY! Miss Dawn told me it was high-time I used it, so *GASP* I did!
Questions are welcome.

I of COURSE chose Dawns Butterfly embellishment. In my defense, a stacked butterfly is kind of my signature embellishment! (I probably learned it from Dawn originally, tho!)
Questions? Ask!

Stamp-a-faire Camp Card Set Challenge

Your challenge is to create a card set using components showcased in one of the tutorials provided below or develop your own design.  You can give them as a gift or keep them for yourself.  To make things a bit more fun, you can collect addresses from fellow camp mates or forum members and become pen pals.

My set of 4 note cards. I chose a clear box to package them in. Dawn McVey has me convinced to buy the Berry Basket but alas, I do not have it!
Ask questions about any supplies.

Stamp-a-faire Ribbon Techniques Challenge

DSC_7520.1

I have seen Dawn do a video on bow tying before but I forgot ~ my children and dog have given me ADD! This might be THE best bow I have EVER tied! I am so stoked she showed this again and maybe I won't forget to go look at it when I get lost! The other true confession is Fine Linen. I remember when it came out ~ I didn't even order it. Oh my, have times changed. I am a bright person. I LOVE bright colors! But...I am OBSESSED with Fine Linen! I LOVE it! So, I made my challenge card with Fine Linen, Dotty Biscotti and Vintage Cream (LOVE that too!). All 3 Mat Stack 3 dies were used. Bloom Builders #3 Die was used to cut Fine Linen and a Fine Lined button was threaded with button twine. Fine linen Saddle Stitch ribbon was tied in a pretty darn nice bow, if you ask me!
Whooo! 3 challenge cards! That is a LOT for me! I will try and finish the whole thing tomorrow. I HOPE.

Stamp-a-faire Tie-Dye Techniques

  • 3 dye ink pads (I am using Aqua Mist, Blueberry Sky & Winter Wisteria, however you can use alternate colors as long as you have a light, medium & dark)
  • small paintbrush
  • water

OK! I would make a LOUSY hippie!!!  My tie-dye isn't so great but I think the card is pretty because of my awesome layered butterfly! I used Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores and New Leaf. The mat is Aqua Mist and the Photo Finishers strip is Hawaiian Shores with a Little Label. The sentiment is Signature Series: Butterfly in Hawaiian Shores.
I could use some practice!!!

Make It Monday #75: Roll the Die Challenge

Make It Monday #75: Roll the Die Challenge

Are you ready for the most random of challenges? Erin Lincoln's on tap this week with a great idea. Download her worksheet, fill it out, roll a die, and create what Lady Luck sends your way. Click play on the video to see what creative hot water Erin landed herself in and if she managed to craft her way out of it.

Wow! This week has FLOWN by! I got this card made yesterday but didn't get it photographed or edited until this evening! I thought this was a FUN challenge and would have liked to make more cards but there just wasn't time.
My die roll gave me the following:
Horizontal card
Smokey Shadow/Hawaiian Shores/Raspberry Fizz
Pretty Peonies
Half & Half
Movers and Shakers
This 4 1/4x5 1/2" white has a panel from Smokey Shadow Pattern pack. I die cut the flowers and frame from Pretty Peonies and stamped them in Raspberry Fizz & Hawaiian Shores. Half & Half was used to cut Hawaiian Shores. the Sentiment is from Movers and Shakers in Hawaiian Shores ink. All of the elements were adhered with pop dots.
Fun Challenge!

Rosie Posie ~ Again (Can there EVER be too much Rosie Posie?)

I say NOT!!! I am wondering if The Sweet Life will take over, but I highly doubt it! I do LOVE Rosie Posie!!! This is 3 versions of the same card. The paper is from the 6x6 pads my sister Pat gave me. I have made a TON of cards from those pads! All of these are 5x7 white card stock base. They all use  3 1/2" Oval Limitless Layers Die. I LOVE that paper in the top one, it is so pretty. I used the Medium Scallop Border Die in cream and pink to cover where the paper was short. I LOVE that look. The sentiments are all the same and are from Out on a Limb Sentiments. The second one uses Victorian Lace border die. I LOVE the way it looks but it is tricky to line-up so you don't cut in the middle of one of the points. The last one is the Heart border die. I was a little late to the party on that one. Not sure why... it is awesome!
Those are my latest little diddies!
I just realized they are all pink ~ I must have been in a pink mood that day!
I hope it is cool where you are! It is going to be 108 a couple of days next week! That is HOT! And.... we are so dry. We haven't had rain to speak of in weeks :(

Birthday card

I think I need to buy new lights for my light box I take pictures in, My pictures are all so dark. This 5x7card is made with a 6x6 pad. I was messing around with the extra piece of the Filigree Border die cut and it looked like a flower to me. If you stack it carefully, that is. I put it on a Beautiful Blossoms die cut and added a tiny resin mum on top. I think is is cool. Very airy looking! The Sentiment is Big Birthday Wishes Stamp Set. It is stamped on Mat Stack 5 and Layerz. I LOVE my flower!

"Stamper's First Aid"

"Stamper's First Aid"
Beginning today, July 16th, we will have customers post projects within an InLinkz list that they have created in the past that they felt needed just a *little* something; a project that needs a diagnosis for one reason or another. Each DT member will select a project to give "first-aid" to and re-make the project, making changes that they feel benefit the project while staying true to your original concept.

This is a card I made with Cover Plate: Hexagon Die. I am Waaaaay too lazy to stamp the little cut out with the stamps, so I used 3 colors of Green Tea Leaves paper and cut those with the cover plate. I also cut it with white card stock. I adhered the frame to a 4 1/4x5 1/2" white card stock, top fold card. I adhered a random pattern on the card. I used Double Ended Banner stamped with a sentiment from Pretty Peonies.
OK, this is too plain, too blah, too ~ I am not sure. So, I entered this in the First Aid for Stamp-a-faire 2012. It definitely needs help, so we shall see!

More Pretty Paper Cards

These 5x7 white card stock base cards both feature 6x6 paper pads from Pat! The paper is so pretty, so I didn't want to cover it up, Since it is 6" and my card is 7" they have a contrasting strip along the bottom. The first one is a color that matches. The bottom one is the reverse side of the piece. Again, my obsession with Filigree Border Die. Can I tell you ONE of the reasons I love it so much? It is because when you use it horizontally, the scallops are spaced so you don't have to cut in the middle of them. I LOVE the Victorian Lace one, but it tends not to be spaced horizontally very well, just vertically. My obsession with seams is carried into having things cut in half and raw edges exposed! Just on of my foibles! The top one uses the large oval Limitless Layers, birthday Bash stamp and a vellum, stacked butterfly. The second one uses a Doily Detail, Movers and Shakers Stamp and a stacked butterfly. I LOVE them, both!
