2 cards to share

I work out at Curves in Leawood, KS.
Jacque and her Mother Dorothy are two of the sweetest, kindest most generous people I know.
Dorthy, 92,was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. We were all so devastated. But let me tell you that 92 year old has more energy than you do ~ I guarantee it. She is a fighter and we are convinced this cancer will not beat her,
She started radiation treatments last week. I wanted to make an encouragement card for her. We will put it on the counter at Curves for the members to sign.

When I make a card that will have lots of signatures I make a super-sized card.
I take an 8 1/2x11 sheet of white card stock, fold it in half and build my card.

Friendly Flowers makes SUCH a pretty card!
I will add several sheets of card stock folded over so we can get LOTS of signatures and words of encouragement!

The second card is made with some transparency overlays I bought YEARS ago for scrap booking.
Apparently they never spoke to me for a scrap book page. I am trying to use my supplies. so...

This is a 5x7 greeting card.
I used Wet Paint stamps and By the Numbers dies.

I think for a child this will make a GREAT card.

I spent a good part of the weekend cleaning and organizing my stamp room.
I am getting ready for Stamp-A-Faire!
It felt so good to get it all spiffed up!
So looking forward to what the design team has in store for us!

Make It Monday #176: Backgrounds with Embossing Paste

1

-Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and embossing paste.

I LOVE embossing paste. I have been doing this technique for a while and I love the results I get. I just get lazy. You have to  mix the color in, quickly clean up your stencil (if you use a plastic one) and palette knife, wait for the paste to dry so you can use it for a card front... See, I get lazy :)

But Oh my goodness, look at Laura's card! How gorgeous???

I had been wanting to use turning a new leaf, so I did. I cut mine from a coaster. It leaked under the edge a bit, maybe it was too thick?
Laura said Limeade Ice was her favorite color, so trying to be Teachers Pet, that is what I used.

My paste did not turn out to be a perfect match to Limeade Ice, but it is still a pretty color.
Maybe I used too much ink? Not sure how that works.
I added in Berry Sorbet, of course ;)

Simple card. I LOVE the texture. I love the pop of Berry Sorbet, too!

Make It Monday #175: Creative Card Borders Using Non-Border Dies ~ Card 5

14

--Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a creative border created with non-border dies..

I PROMISE this is my last border card! Seriously!
I LOVED Diana K's snowflake card so much, I had to try it myself.
No pink here! This is a house of males, so I went with blue!

I used Fancy Flakes. I LOVE these snow flakes. Damask Snowflakes might be my all-time favorite PTI product but Fancy Flakes aren't far behind. They are a perfect, smaller size!

I loaded these babies up with LOTS of Martha Stewart coarse glitter. They are so shiny and sparkly!!!

This card makes me smile. I know I am a bit different in this regard, but I LOVE snow! REALLY love it!
So I don't dread the coming winter!

OK, I seriously have to get back to regular programming. I have spent WAY too much time making theses cards this week. But... I have loved every minute of it.

Thank you Danielle for showing this amazing technique!

Make It Monday #175: Creative Card Borders Using Non-Border Dies ~ Card 4

14

After I made the Leave it Be card in the green shades, I knew I needed to do one in fall colors.

Fall is a favorite time of mine. I love the cooler temperatures, all of the fall colors and September is both my birthday and my anniversary!

The maple-y shaped leaves seemed to be the right choice!

It turned out great. This card style will need to become a regular in my card making. Once you get the learning curve in hand it goes fairly quickly!

Make It Monday #175: Creative Card Borders Using Non-Border Dies ~ Card 3

14

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a creative border created with non-border dies..

This challenge might turn into the marathon that debossed images did!
Diana K and I might have a race. Are you in Diana???
Anyway, I had this idea to use one of Dawns Boutique Border dies.

I am really happy how it turned out. I of course used Berry Sorbet as my color palette.

I had a little stray Limeade Ice smudge at the top of the card. It was almost finished so... I covered it up!
That is why there are extra Berry Sorbet strips :)

I am still going to make a fall Leave it Be, and... I might have to make a snowflake card  like Diana K!

Make It Monday #175: Creative Card Borders Using Non-Border Dies ~ Card 2

14

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a creative border created with non-border dies..

Oh Yeah!!!
Leave it Be!!!

I am officially as obsessed with this technique as I was with debossed images form Dawn!!!

And I just knew Leave it Be would be amazing.
I was not disappointed.

I used this color combo when I made the 3000 cards (not really!) for the debossed MIM. I liked it then and I still do!

I want to do one in more traditional fall colors, too.

I did practice the spacing on a scratch paper but had less trouble remembering which side I was cutting.

I also chose to put a solid color on the inside edge. I like to keep the inside of my card white or in this case, cream.

I LOVE Leave it Be. I am so happy it worked so well on this card.

Make It Monday #175: Creative Card Borders Using Non-Border Dies

14

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a creative border created with non-border dies..

I used to do this technique a long time ago. Before we had dies. I used to hand cut a stamped image.
This is easier, sort of...
You have to think backwards. I mis-cut my first attempt. I had it figured out, over thought it, switched the plates and blew it!
So, it is easy, when you think right, backwards! Clear as mud!

AND... I am so glad Danielle followed MY rule!

NO DESIGN TEAM MEMBER CAN USE LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

So I can!
:)

I LOVE it! I knew I would.
I am going to attempt another one. Maybe a floral... Maybe 2!
