S-Fold Cards & Blog Break

This is a quick post.  I am leaving today with my husband to go to New York.  My husband has his annual appointments with his specialists in New York City. He will have the usual tests and we will be home on Thursday!
These are s-fold cards.  I have posted those before, HERE .  I won't go into any directions for lack of time.  The paper on the last 2 is from the Cosmo Cricket Social Club 6x6 pad.  The Isaiah verse is PTI, the Proverbs is Stampendous.  The sentiment frame on the top card is Cricut Cartridge  Storybook ~ Wishes Come True page 70
Shift Accent Blackout ~ 4” solid cardstock
                      Shift Accent Blackout ~ 3 ½” white cardstock x2
The bottom card uses PTI Mat Stack #1 and the Layerz Mat as well.
Have a great week and I will see you when I get back.

A Goldie but Goodie! ;)

This gold card is made from paper from a 6x6 Cosmo Cricket Social Club pack.  I really like this pattern.  I don't make a lot of yellow/gold cards though I do like the colors.  This one is  4 1/4x5 1/2 side fold white cardstock.  The panel is 4x5 3/8.  The Ivory Shimmer seam binding I have used in other posts.  It was tied near the center in a bow that was tied 4 times.  A gold button was threaded at the knot with button twine. I cut a PTI Mat Stack #4 and a Tiny Tag with a gold cardstock.  I wish I could tell you what it was, I don't remember.  It might have been PTI Harvest Gold but I am not sure.  I also cut some cream cardstock with my Cricut Flower Shoppe at 3 1/4, 2 1/2, 2 & 1 1/4" .  I stacked 1 of each and sewed them together with a button using button twine.  I swiped the flower with a gold ink to liven it up.

Aqua & Brown Cards

I am so into Damask right now.  I am drawn to the pattern and I am not sure why.  Maybe because it is so orderly and my craft room is not!  I am trying to get back into scrapbooking for Colin's Senior year.  I actually have been working on a 7 Gypsies Library Drawer.  I am making 6x6 pages to go in the drawer, HERE .  It is coming along nicely but I am a messy scrapbooker!  I am not a neat cardmaker but I use fewer supplies so I am not as immersed in embellishments and all of the pictures!  So back to damask, I LOVE it.  The top 3 pictures are all of the same card.  It was made with scraps pieced on 4x5 3/8 brown cardstock.  That was adhered to a 4 1/4x5 1/2 piece of cardstock after a hand dyed length of seam binding was tied into a bow near the middle of the panel.  Have I told you about my card bases?  I don't like to write on colored cardstock.  Hallmark makes its cards on white cardstock!  Why do card crafters use colored cardstock?  I buy the white Georgia Pacific cardstock at WalMart.  It is a ream of 150 sheets for around $6.  I take it to Kinko's and get it cut.  They have guillotine cutters that are accurate and give clean cuts.  They charge $1.50 per cut.  I get 3 sizes cut;  4 1/4x5 1/2, 4 1/4x11 & 7x10.  That is $6+tax.  I usually take 2 packages of paper, 300 sheets & divide it in 1/3's.  There is no way I can cut that much paper effectively at home.  The wear and tear on my blade not to mention inaccurate cuts and that time I save is unbelievable!  I am really passionate about that topic so sorry for the lecture!  I used the 2 larger PTI butterfly dies and the Martha Stewart butterfly punch.  Michael's Recollections pearls were adhered to the butterfly stack and a aqua button was threaded to the knot of the bow.  The bottom card is a 4 1/4 side fold (4 1/4x11").  The same elements with the addition of lace on the right side and PTI Doily Details die that was used to cut brown cardstock.  A 1 3/4 punch was used to cut the aqua cardstock for the center of the doily.  A brown PTI Tiny Tag was stamped with the sentiment.

Rolled Rose card

Can you stand another Rolled Rose Card?  I hope so because I LOVE this card.  I frequently show cards where the paper is the star.  This Heidi  Swapp paper is one of those.  I love this shade of blue and the flourish'y leaf sprig is so pretty.  As I was thinking on how to embellish it without distracting from the image my trusty Rolled Rose die seemed to fit the bill.  It frequently does, as you know!  You can get those dies HERE and HERE .  I use small straight pins that have a pearlized ball head on them for the center.  If I don't have the right color, I use a white one and color it with a Sharpie.  I made a stick pin with beads and a corsage pin to add a little more style.  Satin ribbon from Michael's was tied in a knot at the bottom so as not to cover any of the image and a PTI Tiny Tag was cut from the solid part of the paper and stamped with a sentiment.  A VERY simple card but in my opinion very pretty.  I LOVE pretty paper!

Brown Bow Card

This is a simple cards from paper I have used before.  The paper is a 4x 4 or so piece of paper that I used on a post earlier in the summer.  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 side fold, white cardstock.  The brown paper is 4x1/2.  I bought a bag of buttons at Hobby Lobby.  In the bag there were 3-4 brown satin ribbon bows.  They were perfectly tied and too pretty not to use, so, I did!  I sewed a goldish button around the knot with button twine.  The bow was attached to the seam with a glue dot.  PTI Fillable Frames #8 was used to cut brown cardstock.  A 2 3/4" white cardstock oval that I cut with George and Basic Shapes was adhered to the frame.  I mass produce those ovals.  I do an "Auto-Fill" of both white and cream cardstock on my Cricut Expression.  I also make several 2" and some 2 1/2".  They work great when you want a frame that is cut from paper too dark to stamp on.  A single felt Beautiful Blooms II #3 diecut was threaded with a button, like the one on the bow.  Very simple card but it is a really cute one.

PTI Edger #3 Cards

Here are 3 takes on the same card layout.  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  The card base and all of the mats were cut with PTI Edger Die #3.  The mats are 4x3-4".  The patterned paper is American Crafts.  #1 &2 use the Rolled Roses die I use all of the time.  You can find it on previous posts.  The top one is 100% red wool felt, the purple one is embossed acrylic felt.  Let me tell you it makes all the difference.  High quality wool felt cuts like, as they say, butter!  The acrylic I pass through my cutter multiple times and then still have to release the cuts with scissors.  It is barely worth it.  PTI sells FABULOUS wool felt but it is pricey.  National Nonwovens and The Felt Store have great felt.  They are both far less than PTI but they don't have the cool colors PTI has.  The leaf sprigs are from PTI Turning a New Leaf die.  The bottom card has a PTI Mat Stack #2 cut stamped with the matching stamp.  A PTI Love Lives Here butterfly and 3 Martha Stewart Classic Butterfly punch cuts.  Same card, different color or elements.

Embossed cards

These cards are based loosely on a design by Ashley Newell ,HERE .  I didn't have the same supplies so I used what I had.  I had gotten the Congrats Cuttlebug embossing folder, I am sure on clearance ~ if you know me, you know that is right!  I don't send many Congrats cards so after I made the first one I went on a mission to find a Birthday & Thanks folder.  Well, I was in luck!  At WalMart.com, HERE , they had both for $3.94 each.  I got them both delivered for around $10.  A STEAL!  So I made some more of what I think is a pretty, awesome design.  The cardstock is white core so it can be sanded to reveal the words.  The trim is a 6" piece of that awesome rose ribbon I have used before.  Remember the pink Mothers Day cards?  This trim I got at Hobby Lobby in the fabric department.  I bought the brown but the green is cream ribbon that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  It took the color very well.  I bought several yards when it was on sale!  I just folded it over and sewed it together to make a "bunch".  The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  There is button twine and lace trim.  I have a HUGE stash of brass & other charms I have collected over the years, so I used lots of those.  I also made stamped tags with PTI Tiny Tags.
I really do LOVE this card design, Thanks Ashley, for the inspiration!

MORE Scrap Cards ~ I *Heart* This Red Paper

More cards from that GORGEOUS red Jillibean Soup Watermelon Gazpacho Collection paper.  I LOVE that paper.  I am so drawn to red and damask.  And that small print on 6x6 pads makes the prettiest cards.  Like the paper from that Jillibean Soup pad my sister Pat *Hi Pat!* gave me, she gave me all of her scraps from the red sheets as well.  I made these 4 cards and I think a couple more, just from scraps.  You can see in the pictures what I had to work with.  Most of the scraps were 1-1 1/2x3-4". They were all layered on a 4x 5 3/8 red mat on top of a 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base.  All of these have a hand dyed seam binding, dyed with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Stain and some water with Perfect Pearls added.  It makes the ribbon creamy with just a hint of metallic sheen.  So pretty.  I dye YARDS of this combo at a time, I LOVE it!  I thread a button on button twine and tie it on the knot of the bow that has been tied around 3-4 times.  The top 2 cards use a stamped, inked frame from Just Because Cards Criket cartridge.  The 3rd card has a "doily" from Limitless Layers and Recollections flowers from Michael's.  There is also a Tiny Tag from PTI.  The last card has a tag made from PTI Jar Label.  I think all of these scrap cards are just beautiful.  They are made with BEAUTIFUL paper.  Don't throw your scraps away, especially if it is paper you love!

Scrap Cards

Here are more scrap cards from that Jillibean Soup stack, Spotted Owl pad I have used before.  I have LOADS of scraps and they are all usable.  These are 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock cards that have scraps pieced on a 4x5 3/8 piece of green paper.   They are layered with PTI Fillable Frames #4 & #8 respectively.  Those are stamped with the coordinating stamps and sentiments.
Simple design and very cost effective.

2 more Masculine cards

I have 2 more masculine cards showcasing Tim Holtz Curiosities stamp set.  Both of these are 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.  The first one uses a 4x 3" piece of Colorbok paper from my stash, that means old.  A
4x2 1/2" piece of brown was added to the panel.  The curiosities ruler was stamped in khaki green ink and adhered to the seam.  The clock face & one of the ads were stamped and cut out.  PTI fillable Frames #10 was used to cut white cardstock, stamped with the matching stamp set & adhered with pop dots.
The second card has a scrap of a dark brown patterned paper and a dark brown solid paper 4x 5 3/8.  PTI Tag Sale #3 was used to cut cream cardstock.  That was stamped with the large curiosities stamp in Dark Chocolate ink, along with the clock face & a small ad.  All of the elements were adhered with pop dots.  A brown cording was tied around the panel before it was adhered to the card front.
Both cards are simple.  I have so gotten my moneys worth out of that Tim Holtz set!

The last of Dawn McVey inspired cards ~ for now!

These Dawn McVey inspired cards could not be more simple.  They are variations of cards on her blog from the release of this die & stamp release, HERE .  It is a cool die set of 3 that you can make as long as you need.  The cards are all 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock.
Super simple cards.
Thanks for all of your inspiration this whole week, Dawn.  I like all of the cards I made from her blog but I ADORE that blue flower one most of all.  I will post additional cards from that design using both the Flower Shoppe cartridge and Bloom Builders #3.
Have a GREAT Labor Day weekend!
