Make It Monday #169: Vellum Overlays ~ Card 2

11

--Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a vellum overlay.

I had time today to make a 2nd card the the MIM
I recently made a card in a style I loved, so I re-configured it to the requirements of the MIM.

I used 2 surprising elements. Life is Beautiful (still on my work space!) and a Berry Sorbet color palette!
I cannot get enough of either...

But why not? Both are so pretty.
The vellum did not take the ink evenly, but I like that softer feel.
And, I have used the Hello from Phrase Play #3 more than the entire die.

Just trying to keep up with the Jones's!!! HeeHee!

June 2014 Blog Hop Challenge ~ Card 7

June Blog Hop Inspiration

This one I made for fun!
I used the pictures on the wall as my inspiration...

I LOVE, LOVE Dawns Birthday Classics. I sell a LOT of Birthday cards. It is so nice to have an option to personalize them.
If you were born in July (both my Daddy and our dog Abby were) you probably are used to Red, White and Blue themes!
My sister Pat *Hi Pat! * gave me a big batch of Mylar confetti, the kind meant for table scatter.

The red, white and blue ones just made this card come to life. Yes, ANOTHER shaker card!
Blame it on Betsy!
I matted a card from MM Journal pack on Pure Poppy card stock, and added my shaker.

If I had a July birthday I would LOVE this card!

Is this one cheating?

I do not pocket scrapbook. I have made a LOT of scrapbooks. I have 3 boys. 2 are Eagle Scouts and one played competitive baseball. I had a LOT of pictures to memorialize. But I never loved it like card making. It was just something I did for their special events.
But this month I ordered the Journal pack. I thought it had some great paper for quick summer cards.

I just trimmed this one down, added a strip along the bottom from another card from the pack, added a Wet Paint cut and DONE!
Cute!

On this one I only used the color combo.
I HAD to use the newest Phrase Play. They make GREAT cards.
I also cannot stop making shaker cards.

It makes an adorable shaker. I did have to trim out the happy section from the foam. It stretched out as I took the adhesive off. It didn't matter, tho.

Color challenges are so good for me. It stretches my color world.
I use combos I would never use otherwise!

June 2014 Blog Hop Challenge ~ Card 4

For this one I did follow the sketch more closely.

The minute I opened Thank You Kindly, (I have been begging for a BIG Thank You set), I saw that the banner image would work great for the hop!

The first one I made was vertical, but it looked a little crowded.
I also used button twine across the top and didn't like that look, so...

I think this is much better.
It was great Dawn included a plural phrase. I get asked all of the time for those types of sentiments. Especially for Sympathy or Birthday cards!
Thanks Dawn!!!

Again, LOOSELY based on the sketch. I was just going for the layout of the sketch, not the elements of it.

I am still having trouble putting Life is Beautiful away. These butterflies are SO PRETTY!

I cut a small "body" in Hibiscus Burst to add to the butterfly and to get that color into the card.
I like it!

On this one I sort of follow the sketch.
I was looking for the cluster of 3. I tried putting one of the small butterfly dies I have and didn't like the look. It just clashed with these stunning butterflies.
I was looking for the framed square look, but it needed to be smaller.

This is what I came up with...
Just that 3rd element..

Pretty colors, right?

This month challenge was kind of wide open. My cards are loosely based on the sketches but all use the color combos.

Dawn sucked me in AGAIN! I tried REALLY hard not to buy another floral, but...
Yep, Friendly Flower is mine!

Too, cute! I think it is the unique leaves. Also the center stamp that looks like a fireworks explosion!

These colors work so well together. I LOVE Tropical Teal leaves.

Pretty happy with this one!

Make It Monday #169: Vellum Overlays

11

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a vellum overlay.

I LOVE the look of vellum but it can be tricky to work with.
You have to disguise the adhesive.

I was looking to design a few 4th of July cards. I am not sure they will sell, but I sold a fair number of St Patrick's Day cards, so...

I used the large Rick Rack die. I would have used my Chevron die but to be honest, I had a PILE of these Rick Rack ones I had cut for something a while back, so I used them!
Lazy AND frugal ;)

I used all 3 sizes of Seeing Stars dies. I cut 2 of each of the larger ones in vellum and 1 small one in white glitter paper. The glitter paper covers the adhesive on the vellum ones.

You cannot tell in the picture but the MM arrow has the sentiment stamped on vellum and is adhered on white card stock. Just so it stays in place.

God Bless America! The land that I love!

Make It Monday #168: Combining Chalk and Stamps with Impression Plates

23

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and Melissa's chalk, stamp, and impression plate technique.

I have said from the first time I logged onto Melissa's blog, Oh my, I LOVE her work. but I could NEVER copy her style!

Here is proof!!!

Melissa's card is stunning!
Mine actually turned out better than I  thought...

I so love the medium die from Delicate Details.
I can tell I am going to use it a LOT!

I practically needed to dust off my chalks ;)
Haven't used them in a LONG time!

Make It Monday #168: Baby Wipe Stamping ~ Card 3

41

Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and baby wipe stamping.

The previous card used: Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist and Limeade Ice. The stamping came out virtually Hawaiian Shores. So I added New Leaf. It needed a stronger contrast!
Advice ~ use a color combo that can give you contrast.
Now, I LOVE it!
I had not used Funky Florals in a LONG time!!!
So...

It made a cute flower!
I LOVE the Birthday Classic set to personalize cards. A nice touch!
