Magnetic Platform for Big Shot

Have you seen this? Stampin' Up is selling this competitor the the Genesis magnetic platform. I had read BAD reviews on that one. This one is intriguing because it still uses the acrylic plates. I would think that would make better cuts! It would be nice to have dies stay put. I have wasted paper and I have a couple of dies get damaged because I was trying to save paper and they moved on top of each other when I was cutting :(

Magnetic Platform # 130658

I would wait and read reviews before I bought it. $39.95!

Interesting

Ombre Cards (that were NOT overlapped!)

Last weeks MIM was Overlapping Ombre. I made 2 cards for that challenge. I was ready to post them when I realized I had not overlapped the images! So, I made a new card. I like these 2 cards so here they are!

The first one uses Background Basics: Botanicals. In Scarlet Jewel. Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst and Sweet Blush (I am SO glad I am getting a new Sweet Blush pad. Mine is SHOT!)
I used my favorite Rosie Posie flowers in the corner and the sentiment is Boutique Borders Birthday on a Double Ended Banner die cut. I looks great on my Card Hanger die cut bag, HERE

The next one is an idea I have had for a while. It is the "stamen" from Funky Florals. I used Ocean Tides, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist ink. The mat is Hawaiian Shores, the stamp is from Tagged Sentiments, in Hawaiian Shores. The enamel dots are from My Minds Eye.

So! These didn't work for the Make it Monday but they worked for me ;) A fun challenge. I make a LOT of cards so it is MUCH faster to use patterned paper. But, if I need a particular color, I now have a great technique, overlapped or not, in my arsenal!

Make It Monday #120: Overlapping Ombre

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and some form of overlapping ombre stamping.

Can you read? Well, apparently I cannot. I spent about 1 1/2 hours, or so, making 2 cards for this challenge.  I was SO proud of myself. They were not copies of Nichole's cards. WooHoo! Well, guess why? I cannot read!!! I took pictures and had them all edited. I was getting ready to post when I READ Nicholes blog!
My cards were not OVERLAPPING! They were ombre, but they did not overlap. And, the images I chose could not be coaxed into that technique! So I made a third card. I am going to post those other 2 cards later, because I like them ;)

I used Simply You stamp set.

I used Edger #1 to trim both the card and the Raspberry Fizz panel. The stamp is inked in Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz and Scarlet Jewell inks. I was really only able to overlap the circle of the O. It got to muddied up if I raised it up any more.

OK, this was another CHALLENGING challenge!!! I do like the look of this technique and how it turned out!

Make It Monday #119: Flagged Borders

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and a flagged border.

You know if Dawn McVey is doing a Make It Monday I am going to do my best to participate. I have to tell you this challenge was, well, CHALLENGING!!!
Not so easy! And this card maker who struggles with veering off the guidelines of a challenge really struggled with not totally copying Dawns GORGEOUS card!
So here is mine:

I am an avid follower of Pam Wilson's blog Chicks of a Feather http://chicksofafeather.squarespace.com/
For her "after-the-blog hop" card she used an Edger die. I have all of the dies and love them but haven't used them in a while. Pam inspired me to dig mine out. So, I did!

I was TRYING not to completely copy Dawns card so I used a Hawaiian Shores panel behind my flags. I also used Photo Finishers die and the Everyday stamps.
Beautiful Blooms Patterned Paper was my choice for the flags.

I did not use the Tag Sale die Dawn used (not to do EVERYTHING she did) and I added the CUTE little arrow from Sketched shapes. The Pure Poppy one turned down, the Simply Chartreuse one pointing up!

I am happy with how my card turned out. It is raining here in Kansas and very dark. I have a good light box but I feel like these pictures are washed out a bit. Oh well, I still struggle with my camera. We don't have a great relationship!
