OK, I caved!  I signed up for Pinterest!  I spend WAAAAy too much time on the computer, looking at blogs and searching for ideas, so I really tried to resist.  Papertrey Ink has caused me to spend  too much money on their stamp and dies and things, here they go influencing me, again!  What I did not know is that you do not get an account right away.  I have to be on a "waiting list"!  Seriously?  Might they decide I am not good enough?  Or creative enough?  Or offer enough?  Whatever!  So, for today's Papertrey Ink contest we needed to pick a Pinterest image and make a card from that image.  I know this will BLOW YOUR MIND!  But.... I chose Dawn McVey.  Isn't that card above one of the prettiest you have ever seen?  I LOVE that card.  The picture above the card is from her Pinterest board.  I  make my own version.  TOUGH competition!
So, here it is:

This is a 4 1/4x5 1/2 white cardstock base card.  A 4x5 Raspberry Fizz mat is adhered to the front, I wanted more of the white card base to show to resemble the white baseboard.  A white Half & Half die cut was layered on the mat, to mimic the white frame of the chair.  It was stamped with a linen colored ink, like the background of the wallpaper.  I used the new Celebrations die and cut blue paper like the pillow on the chair and layered Rosie Posie flowers around it.  The leaves had some flaws I didn't see until I took the picture, I tried to repair them and also add some shading like Dawn did.  Haha, I won't be doing that again, as you can see on the close-up shot!
All in all, I like the card.  I can see where if you take items from the pictures and interpret them, you can get inspiration.  I hope it does not become a new addiction...  IF I get off the waiting list! ;)

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversay Contest ~ Day 2 card 4

This card was supposed to be the last card not the first card in my post.  Somehow I messed up ~ making 4 cards, photographing, editing and posting seemed to be a MAJOR challenge for me!  It is 8pm & I am fried.  So, I am giving this post a "lick & a promise"!  This freebie (scroll down to the next post to see what I am talking about, if you do not know) is from Heather Nichols.  It is so cute!  I cut it out, used my corner chomper, rounded the edges and adhered it to the bottom half of the wine bottle tag, I cut the "hanger" part off.  The mat is Mega Mat Stack 4 that I used to cut black card stock.  The tag was layered over that mat.  A Beautiful Blooms II #2 flower that you can see on Dawn McVeys blog (from a while back) was added to finish off the card.
VERY simple but the image is so cheery!

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversay Contest ~ Day 2 Card 1

Day-2-Contest

For today's contest there is a sheet of freebie images that each of the 2012 Stamp Designers has contributed to. Your challenge is to print out the sheet onto white card stock and incorporate one of the images into a project. With so many amazing images to chose from on the sheet, it may be difficult to pick just one! Download the freebie sheet below!

So the contest today is to take images from the sheet above, color copy them and make a card with them. I really pressed myself and made 4. They are not all my best work but I like most of them. I like this one the best because the image is from, yes, Dawn McVey!  It is a really cute image and I didn't have to color it.  When you see the image I had to color you will see why I like this one better!  A 4 1/4x5 1/2 white card stock base has a panel of a soft pink card stock. Layerz Mat Stack 3 was used to cut white card stock and the the original was used to cut Raspberry Fizz card stock .  A bright pink paper was used with Limitless Layers circle and the punched out Freebie image was layered on it with pop dots.  White seam binding was tied in a double bow around near the bottom of the mat.  You cannot see it but I used Mat Stack 5 collection damask stamp and stamped it on the bottom of the mat.  I used Raspberry Fizz ink.  It is visible in real life.  The bottom of the card has Celebrations stamped in Raspberry Fizz ink.  That stamp is from the new Celebrations stamp set.  I LOVE both of those new stamp sets.  And, I love this image from Dawn ~ she is AMAZING!

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversay Contest ~ Day 2 Card 2

This Freebie image was designed by Maile Belles.  It is a cute image but I am not good at coloring.  I used  colored pencil's because I really stink at markers.  I like the card layout but I did a lousy job of stamping.  I re-inked my Raspberry Fizz ink pad, thank goodness the ink finally was available, but I got carried away!  I over inked it, so my stamp gets too wet and kinda "gloms" on the paper.  I made 4 cards for this challenge so I didn't have time to re-stamp these.  You get the idea, right?  A 4 1/4x5 1/2 white card stock base.  A 4x5 1/4 Raspberry Fizz panel is adhered to the card front.  A piece of marbled pink paper from my stash was used to cut Half & Half die and Double ended Banner die.  The colored image was punched out matted on a pink circle from Limitless Layers.  That was layered on top of a white Oval Limitless Layers cut.  The pretty Damask image at the bottom of the Half & Half is from the new Mat Stack 5 Collection stamp set.  I LOVE that little jewel.  I will be using it a lot.

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversay Contest ~ Day 2 card 3

This 4 1/4x5 1/2 white card stock base card has a teal mat cut at 4x4 1/4.  Mega Mat Stack 4 was used to cut Spring Moss card stock.  PTI Spiral Notebook die was used to cut Scarlet Jewell card stock.  The image by Melissa Bickford.  The really cute Love Stamp image was layered on top of the page.  Button twine was wrapped around the top of the piece and the page was adhered with pop dots.  The sentiment, stamped in Scarlet jewel ink is from Fillable Frames #11.
A very simple card but the Freebie image is very cute.  Thanks Melissa!

Papertrey Ink 5th Anniversay Contest

 Dawn
Hi!  I am back.  I really never intended to take a 2 month blog break.  I have been super busy.  You all know by now I sell all of the cards I make and donate the money for missions at my church.  The money I donate goes to Malawi and is used to dig Bore Hole wells.  Those cost about $8000 each,  Last year I donated $2200!  I was so happy and grateful to those who bought my cards.  Most of my customer come from the Leawood Kansas Curves.  They are AWESOME and generous ladies and I love everyone of them, even the ones that are Missouri tigers fans ;)
So my excuse is ~  I was VERY BUSY!  It takes a LOT of cards, pouches, notebooks to raise that much money, and since the first of the year, I have been making Valentines.  I will post those next, and I promise it won't be 2 months.
So, this post is for the 5th Anniversary contest at Papertrey Ink.  You pick a designer and use at least one of her 5 favorite PTI supplies.  I chose, drum roll here,  Dawn McVey ~ big surprise, huh?
Her list is HERE .  I used them all and I am delighted with the results!  I wasn't sure if I was going to like the bakers twine on the card, I thought I would have liked ribbon or seam binding better,  but I LOVE it!
Here it is:

The card base is 4 1/4x5 1/2 rustic cream card stock.  The Mega Mat Stack 4 was used to cut the cream card stock and the Rosie Posie dies.  Those were stamped with Raspberry Fizz ink on the 2 larger flowers and Hawaiian Shores was used to ink up the small one.  New Leaf ink was used on the leaves.  Chocolate Bakers Twine was wrapped around the Mega Mat Stack and a Raspberry Fizz button and a Cream Tiny Tag that was stamped in Raspberry Fizz ink, were threaded through the twine.  A 4x5 1/4 Raspberry Fizz mat was adhered to the card front and the Mat stack was added with pop dots.  *LOVE*  I really LOVE the card and the color combo.  I really love Dawn McVeys inspiration.

Thank you to my loyal followers for checking in on me and encouraging me to post.  It means a LOT!  LOVE to all of you!
