Make It Monday #113: Perfect Pearls

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and Perfect Pearls or some sort of metallic pigment powder.

I have had a package of Pearl Ex for YEARS. I rarely use it but I have always loved it. I guess I just get lazy and use patterned paper I buy and don't make my own, unless it is a challenge.

I used  Enchanted Evening for my panel. I stamped it with Background Basics: Botanicals using VersaMark ink. I used 3 colors of powder for more interest. You can sort of see it! The picture where the card sits at an angle show it best.

I am sort of obsessed with Happiness in Bloom so I used it on this card. I had several flowers already stamped for some other cards so I used them. I tried to stamp one with the Pearl Ex as the shading. Let me tell you, it was not a pretty flower. It just came out kind of muddy. So... I used the color combo I know works, well!

Dawns Happy For You sentiment is inked in Berry Sorbet and stamped on the banner from Get a Handle die set.

April Blog Hop ~ Card 3

This month we are challenging you to create a project that features something tilted.

The 3rd stamp set I bought in April is Handy Hardware. It is so CUTE. I was going to save a few $$ and not get it but my AWESOME husband who is so supportive of my addiction told me to buy it, so I did!!! And let me tell you I am so glad. ADORABLE!!!

I used the stamps and 2 narrow strips of True Black and Smokey Shadow card stock to form my angle. I used Fillable Frames #1 but cut it down by putting it back in the die, scooted one side over the cutting edge and re-cut it. The sentiment is stamped on Jar Labels 2. I cut and stamped all of the tools. I was going to leave out the saw but I thought the card needed it, so... I die cut and stamped one and then cut the handle from the blade. I used it as a mask so it had 2 colors. I was being careful when I inked the stamp so I inked it lighter than I intended. It came out a little uneven but I REALLY like it that way. Sort of vintage-y. The panel is mounted on Smokey Shadow card stock and then on a white card.
Any tool-lovin' Dad would love this card.

April Blog Hop ~ Card 2

This month we are challenging you to create a project that features something tilted.

The second new set I bought was Big Ticket Basics. I have Just the Ticket and used the daylights out of it. I haven't used it in a long time, though. So when I saw the new on I wasn't sure but the new stamps are so fresh and trendy and the size is great. I like BIG things. Not into the tiny stuff ;)

I told you before my middle son, Brandon is graduation from KU, University of Kansas, May 19. I have made a special card for him I will post later but I need lots of cards for friends and for sale. I LOVE this card. I am not 100% sure I would have designed this one without the challenge. That is why challenges are so AWESOME!

I used True Black pattern pack, Big Ticket Basics, Sketched Shapes die for the arrow, the banner die from Get a Handle, Super Star border die, For the Graduate and, something I HATE to do for a PTI challenge, a Sizzlet die for the diploma! It was too cute not to put it on there, so...
Is this card not adorable? I LOVE PTI! They make AWESOME supplies!

April Blog Hop ~ Card 1

This month we are challenging you to create a project that features something tilted.

This month I ordered 3 of the new stamp sets. I decided to make a card from each set because I got my order on Friday this month. Just 4  days after release night!!! Happiness In Bloom might be my new favorite floral set. I always LOVED the die for it but never loved the stamp set. Now I am in  Beautiful Blooms II #1 heaven!

This card uses Cover Plate: Twist as the background. I also cut both Chevron Stripes border in Hawaiian Shores card stock. That was my tilt! The blooms are inked in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores. The Turning a New Leaf die is New Leaf. The sentiment is Boutique Borders.

The card turned out a little busier than I had envisioned. I would probably just leave the Cover Plate off if I made it again. I do ADORE  Happiness In Bloom. You will see it, again!

April Blog Hop ~ Card 4 ~ WooHoo!

April Blog Hop

This month we are challenging you to create a project that features something tilted.

I never dreamed that this angled design would be such an inspiration for me! I LOVE it.   Dawn McVey had said during the release that one of her cards made her happy. Another one was used as inspiration for my card. Surprise, right? . Well, let me tell you, this one makes me VERY happy. I love the color, the flowers and the layout! I LOVE it!

Happiness in Bloom! GREAT name, huh? Because it does make me HAPPY!

The inks and papers are Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy. They go together like peas and carrots ;)
I used pattern packs from both colors.

I stamped the leaf image on the card but hand cut one out just for some interest. It is mounted on foam dots.
The sentiment is from Boutique Borders Birthday stamped on Sketched Sentiment banner.
A few pearls, because they are pretty!

My new favorite floral. Move over Rosie Posie!

Last Mothers Day Cared

This is the last (I think!) Mothers Day card I wanted to share. It uses that My Minds Eye ~ Lost and Found Paper. I used all 3 Mat Stack 6 dies and the Mothers Day stamp is an OLD Stampin' Up stamp.

The first one uses trim from Webster Pages Bloomers. It is a pale pink.

The next one uses Rose trim from American Crafts. The roses are tighter and less "messy". I like them both.
The resin flower is Jolee's I have had forever.

I love the tone on tone Turning a New Leaf on the bottom.

Pretty paper makes pretty cards! Trim, too!

More Mothers Day Cards

I kind of have an obsession with Turning a New Leaf die and my stacked butterfly embellishment. They just kind of go together and always look good!

The top 2 cards are ones I made to hang on gift bags. The resin flowers are so pretty but do add bulk when mailing so again, perfect for a gift bag!

This card and the one above use paper from the March Simon Says Stamp kit. I have basically cancelled my subscription unless I LOVE the stamp set in it. I DO NOT need paper and I am a PTI snob when it comes to stamps, so..... But darn, that paper is so pretty!

The one below uses those adorable Mark Richards Fleurette's that I just LOVE. They mash down for easy mailing thou this one is a card hanger card!

Notched Flower and Boutique Border make a pretty card.

I still have a few more Mothers Day cards to show you, especially the other version of the My Minds Eye paper one.
I have cards already made for the Blog Hop and a pile of Graduation cards.
My middle son Brandon graduates from KU in May! YEAH!!!!!!!!!

More Mothers Day cards

A while back a WONDERFUL friend gave me a HUGE stash of paper. A LOT of good quality solid card stock and a HUGE amount of patterned card stock. I am so blessed.
All of these cards except the blue/green one use some of that paper.

The next two use the same sheet just using different accent colors really change the look of the paper

A Pretty pink one I can add to a gift bag!

This one used a snippet of a glittered border I made from Dawn McVey's Make it Monday

Same with the pretty purple one. Both showcase Dawns Boutique Border Mother Stamp and die.

I like this next one. The paper is REALLY busy but also REALLY pretty! I love pink and brown together!

I still have a few more to share. I didn't want this to be a super long post. I am starting to work on Graduation cards. Got my PTI box yesterday and inked up the new Big Ticket Basics! It is going to be a good one. I am going to make a version of Dawns Fathers Day card. You will see it, soon!

Mothers Day

Is FAST approaching!
I have made several Mothers Day cards and will post more after I edit them but I wanted to show you this one.
I was at Hobby Lobby the other day and was browsing through the clearance aisle. You do that, right? I found a couple of My Minds Eye Lost and Found papers for $.59. They have glitter and are so pretty. Lost and Found is one of my all time favorites.

This one had that large medallion and lots of space with the glittered circles.
I hand cut the Medallion and adhered it with pop dots and glue after I first put down a PTI Filigree die cut on the left edge. I used PTI Mat Stack 6 to cut the frame. A Turning a New Leaf cut is tucked in behind the medallion and a stacked butterfly and resin flower complete the card. This card is a 5x7. I still like that size for cards like this. I know, I am weird!

I LOVE it.

I have another card made with the paper from the circle side that is even prettier ;)
I just need to take pictures.

Make It Monday #111: Watercoloring Embossed Images

Combine the softness and ease with heat embossing to create beautiful images.

I have said this before water coloring is not my strength. I do not own any Year of Flower stamps and really the only line image I own is Delightful Dahlia. I used it on water color paper and had a bit of trouble seeing my image after I stamped it. It sort of faded into the paper so my stamps aren't as well spaced as I would like. My other issue is I don't have a lot of re-inkers. I have some of the old glommed up ones but I have been holding off buying new ones until the ink issues are cleared up and I don't have to replace them, AGAIN. So, with that said, here is my card!

I used Delightful Dahlia stamp and white embossing powder

The re-inkers were Pure Poppy and Raspberry Fizz;
The water color panel is adhered to Raspberry Fizz card stock

The top element is Victorian Lace Border Die that cut Pure Poppy card stock. The bottom element is Filigree Border Die that was used to cut New Leaf card stock.

I used Boutique Borders: Birthday die and stamps in New Leaf and Raspberry Fizz. Leaf dies from Delightful Dahlia were used with New Leaf card stock and ink.

Make It Monday #110: Collage Elements ~ Card 2

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge, a stamped collage.

Dawn's BEAUTIFUL card

I wanted to give this technique a second look. As I was thumbing (I now store my stamps with Tim Holtz folders and I LOVE it!) through my stamps, I came across the Destinations and World Map stamps I had yet to ink up. I thought it would be a fun background. I remembered someone from the design team used a pink theme on their card for release, so that is what I did.

MY second take:

After I took pictures and edited them I thought Bon Voyage maybe wasn't the best sentiment with the airplane? Maybe I should have used the boat? What do you think? Is it okay to use Bon Voyage with an airplane?

Anyway I LOVE these stamps and I think the collage is kind of cute!

Make It Monday #110: Collage Elements

Create a project utilizing your take on the challenge, a stamped collage.

Dawns GORGEOUS card!

OK, I LOVE to stretch myself and participate in challenges. But, I do have one issue with that participation. I am VERY literal. I have trouble stepping outside the guidelines. Which is kind of odd because I am NOT a good rule follower!
Anyway, this was indeed a challenge for me. My work space was COVERED with stamps and ink and scratch paper tests!
So, here is my card which is as far removed from Dawn's as I could go ;)

First of all, I was SO EXCITED to see how she made the BEAUTIFUL flower. I so had to copy that. I love it. It is Rosie Posie, my favorite flower set. She used the Scallop from the small Limitless Layers die ~ BRILLIANT. I am not sure if it was an accident but knowing PTI, not!
I used Background Basics: Geometrics, Fancy Flourishes, and  Stylish Sentiments: Birthday. I tried to add more stamps but I just couldn't pull it off. It got to busy for me. The inks are Classic Kraft, Fine Linen and Melon Berry.
I actually am happy with how it turned out. I am SLIGHTLY embarrassed with how much it follows Dawn's design
(but I just cannot help my literal nature)

2 more scrap cards

Both of these cards use paper I really LOVE. I don't save scraps from paper I don't love but I sure have trouble throwing away, even small pieces from those I do love.
Both of these cards were from a strip about 2" wide. So I used the plain die strip from Photo Finishers. It adds the perfect interest and allowed me to piece and stretch the paper. Cute, huh?

Again, I made these in Charlotte so I had limited dies to work with, so they are similar to previous cards. That doesn't bother me. Still different and a pleasant design!

This one I used one of the "scallops" from the Filigree die and added it to the center of the butterfly. This to me looks like butterfly feathers. I didn't take a close-up. I will next time I show one. I love my little stacked butterflies. They are always a great additions to a plain card!

Happy April 1st! Where did March go?
