Jayhawk Banner

      My youngest son Colin is a pledge at KU's chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

I the fall they have an auction on Parents Day to raise money (because we do not already pay enough for room and board!)

After I made the Chiefs banner I decided to make a KU one for the auction. I obviously do not have dies to cut the Greek alphabet or I would have made a SigEp one, too!

Cute, huh?

I bought 2 embroidered applique's (what a weird word. I needed spell check!) for the end banners. It is made from felt and canvas. String to run through the grommets. 

I hope it goes for a decent amount. I paid $5 each for the little Jayhawks and spent a fair amount of time!

So, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been busy making Halloween favors and designing my Christmas ones as well. I had to get things ready for a little craft fair tomorrow. I cannot be there, I will be in Lawrence. But since I donate the money, the gal is working my spot for me :)

I am also off to Charlotte on Sunday. Then to NYC for 2 Dr appts for Al on Monday, back to Charlotte Tuesday. Wednesday we are driving to Savannah, GA for the night and spend the day. Then back to Charleston, SC. We went there last year and LOVED it!!!

If you are ever in Charleston, and I highly recommend it, eat at the Peninsula Grill ~ FAB-U-LOUS!!!

Chiefs Banner

MY boys are HUGE sports fans, the middle and youngest anyway! You know how they say the nut doesn't fall far from the tree???

Well, my middle son, Brandon has a friend who bought a school bus that was reconfigured into a Tailgate Bus. A Chiefs bus, specifically. I need to get the boys to take a picture of it.

 Several weeks ago I found a set of PTI Boxy Banners Die's for a good price on eBay. I won the auction and just have not had a chance to use them.

So, I finally decided to make a Chiefs banner as a "bus-warming" gift ;)

I remembered to snap a picture as I was walking out the door to give it to them. The picture is horrible. Is is blurred, but you can see what it looks like:

 I used the largest die to cut burlap that I had adhered, with spray adhesive, to card stock. Then I used red felt to cut the layered piece. The plain circle from Limitless Layers: 2 1/2" was used to cut cream felt. I have an old set of Sizzix steel rule alphabet dies. I LOVE the font and the size. I used it to cut more red felt.

Then I took white canvas and dyed it yellow. I also adhered it to card stock and cut it with the "rick rack" edge of the  Banner Borders Die. I set eyelets I colored with a red sharpie and used a heavy string to hang it.

I was looking to keep it totally masculine. We have boys here! No girly stuff ;)

I told you last week Colin, my baby, is pledging Sig Ep at KU. They have an auction in the fall to fund scholarships to encourage good grades. I plan on making one in Crimson and Blue for the auction!

August 2013 Blog Hop Challenge ~ Card 5

WooHoo! I made all 6 (really just 5 because I used one of my cards for the recipe re-mix)

This one was right up my alley! I have used a similar card design before. I LOVE those diagonal stripes. I think it adds SO much interest. Adding the twine was a fun twist ;)

The card used all of the colors listed using strips of that color of card stock. The panel and Limitless layers scallop are Fine Linen, my favorite neutral. the sentiment is from Dawn McVey's Tagged Sentiments set. I originally intended this to be a masculine card. I am not sure if this sentiment will work for a guy? What do you think? Anyway, I am happy with another literal interpretation!!!

Stamp-a-faire 2013: Closing Ceremony

I wish I would have been able to share this day with someone but that was not to be! I do know I got more done, all 10 challenges, stamping solo!!!

I even corrected my Limited Ingredient's card, so I really posted 11 times.

Here are all 10 of my cards.

I am pleased with most of them! I learned some new techniques and principle's 

I was a fun and exhausting day.

Days like this give you a new appreciation what our beloved design team do for us each and every month!

Another Super Simple card! Another literal representation!  

Limitless Layers: 2 1/2 was used to cut Hawaiian Shores card stock. I used all of the small flowers from Ruby Rose and used all of the colors listed. I had a small resin cabochon mum for the top of the card. 

There is a lot of white space but... the sketch has white space, so...

The sentiment is a Boutique Border: Thank You.

I REALLY like the card and color combo.

This card could not be easier! That was the point, right? FAST food!

I used a Fine Linen front panel. I used New Leaf card stock to cut the Medium Scallop Border die. Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold card stock was cut into 1" strips and adhered to the card front. The sentiment is from Pedal Pushers and is on a harvest Gold banner from sketched shapes.

Easy Peasy! And.... literal ;)
